Post-Poned Another Year

It seems Mr.Dean could not get Liberty (leave) from base this year. So instead of a renewal, Mrs. Dean and both 1 1/2 babies (she is pregnant again) went up to visit with him. All our planning is not going to waste! We are still looking forward to a renewal, it has simply been pushed back another year. Expect more posts, just not as fast paced and rushed as I had expected.

Oh, and Happy Anniversary to the Dean couple, today is their One Year mark!

Thoughts Take Shape

I have talked with Dawn. I have talked with our oldest sister. I have talked with many other people. Ideas abound, and for once, they all dance around the same concept: outdoors with white and silver theme.

This anniversary renewal will take place as a normal wedding. It will be complete with bridesmaids, groomsmen, a long walk, and a cute little flower-girl. A pot-luck reception to follow.

Setting:
The park was tossed into the mix. Which park? There is one down the road from where Dawn is, but it is too small. There is another one nearby, literally next door to the courthouse, and it has a pond, but the parking is atrocious. So far, this is the best bet. There is a third choice, a park near where I work. It is HUGE and has ample parking. It would be a small hike to the bridge over the river, but it would be worth it. Dawn must approve of the location, so we will be scouting it out the next time she visits.

(A photo taken at aforementioned park by my work)

In the event weather does not permit, or a decent enough outdoor space is unable to be chosen, then we are pretty much back at square one...we haven't been able to determine a suitable indoor space yet. Tents, anyone?

Dress:
Dawn already has her dress. We picked it out not long after Serenity was born - we started the idea of a renewal for their first anniversary long before she brought it up to Dean.

Bridesmaids and the flower girl dresses are still under consideration. Color theme of silver and a complimentary color to match the Navy uniform Dean will be wearing.

Groomsmen will be wearing light tuxes, so far. Decision my change, depending on what style dresses are chosen and whether indoor or outdoor appeals best.

This weekend Dawn and I will get together and scout out that park. I am sure she will be calling me every day this week, as well.

A Renewal Ceremony!

What is better than a wedding? Almost nothing. Maybe having a child? That is already out of the way, so what next?

This time around I am doing all the planning for my sister, Dawn. My sister was married quite quickly in a small court house affair. She wishes constantly that there had been more than two friends (one on each side) and her family present. Since then, in the past year, in fact, her husband, Dean, has joined the Navy and they have had the birth of their lovely daughter Serenity. It appears that now, about a month before their one year anniversary, they are pregnant again. My sister is a little worried about the renewal she had her heart set on and fears not being able to pull anything off.

Currently, Dean is based in Chicago. She is going to be moving in with him on base later this summer. Their anniversary falls July 14th. It is my job to coordinate all the necessities to have a renewal ceremony and small reception here in Dallas for that one special day.

Oh, and to throw one last loop in the mix, I am also in charge of her bachelorette party - her marriage was rushed, she will be doing a belated one before the renewal. Interesting, no?
